Car Riders & Bus Riders Dismissal Procedures
CHMS is dismissed each day at 3:05 pm. Car rider students will be dismissed to the porch outside the small gym. Students are instructed to walk around the horseshoe driveway to the porch. Round 1 of bus riders will be dismissed directly to the buses. Round 2 of bus riders will be dismissed to the cafeteria and wait there until the second round of buses arrives. Car rider parents should create a single file line to pick up their student. For everyone’s safety, we ask that all parents remain inside their car unless they are parked in a parking spot.
***Our buses do use the same route as cars, so we ask that parents always yield to the buses and give them the right of way.
Texas school zone law, under HB 347, prevents using a cell phone when driving through an active school crossing zone. This includes property of a public elementary, middle, or junior high school for which a local authority has designated a school crossing zone. Exempt from this law, are vehicles that are stopped, drivers using hands free devices, or making a call to emergency services such as police, medical, fire or other first responders.
