The Middle School UIL offers students the opportunity to build academic skills and confidence through a series of competitive events against other students in our district. With a variety of competitions in speaking, writing, and other academic subjects, there’s something for everyone! Teams are formed through tryouts, and students will spend weeks practicing both at school and at home in preparation for competition.
Who Can Join:
Students in grades 6–8.
Requirements to Join:
Students must have passing grades on their report cards.
Students must be willing to attend practices regularly.
How to Join:
Each fall, students sign up for tryouts. The top 4 students in each contest make the team after the tryout process.

Purpose: A place to learn a new skill, gain confidence, go on trips, and make new friends!
How to Join:
6th Grade: Sign up for Beginner Band—this is the only entry point into the program.
7th Grade: Must have completed one year of Beginner Band (6th Grade).
8th Grade: Must have completed two years of band (6th and 7th Grades).
Faith, fellowship, and leadership.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a student-led Christian organization where students gather to share and study God’s Word. Each year, a group of selected 8th grade student leaders guide the meetings by preparing short Bible studies or inviting adult speakers to share messages of faith. Meetings end with small group discussions, prayer, and a fun game to build fellowship and community.
Who Can Join:
All middle school students (grades 6–8) are welcome.
Requirements to Join:
No formal requirements—just a willingness to participate and grow in your faith.
How to Join:
Simply attend meetings in the gym every Friday during lunch.

FFA is a student organization that helps students develop leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. The FFA motto emphasizes learning by doing, while focusing on the importance of community service and career development in agriculture. Whether you're interested in farming, animal science, or agricultural business, FFA provides students with countless opportunities to grow and make a difference.
Who Can Join:
Students in grades 7–12 who are enrolled in an Agricultural Education (Ag) class.
Requirements to Join:
Students must be passing all classes to participate in FFA activities.
All students enrolled in an Ag class are automatically members of FFA.
How to Join:
Enrollment in an Ag class automatically makes students a member of FFA.

The CH Fishing Club is open to all students, from beginner to advanced anglers, who enjoy spending time outdoors. This club participates in 7 tournaments throughout the year on Lake Sam Rayburn, where each team consists of 1 boat captain and 1-2 anglers. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy fishing, teamwork, and friendly competition.
Who Can Join:
Students in grades 7–12.
Requirements to Join:
A boat captain with access to a boat is required to participate.
The boat captain must be willing to volunteer their time for the tournaments.

The Jr Beta Club is a service organization that emphasizes academic achievement, character, leadership, and service. Members uphold these pillars while giving back to the school and community through various service opportunities. Jr Beta Club encourages students to be leaders, act with integrity, and strive for excellence in everything they do.
Who Can Join:
Students in grades 7–8.
Requirements to Join:
Average semester grades for core classes over 95.
Good behavior.
A service and leadership mindset.
How to Join:
Sponsors will review grades from the previous school year and extend invitations to students who meet the requirements. Students may choose to accept or decline the invitation.

Club Name: Central Heights Youth Basketball Association (CHYBA)
Who Can Join: Ages 5–14
What We Do:
CHYBA exists to expose young kids to the game of basketball—giving them the chance to play, learn, and grow in the sport from an early age. Our program encourages teamwork, skill development, and a love for the game.
Requirements to Join:
Participants must be 5–14 years old on or before August 1 of the following year and must attend or live within the Central Heights school boundaries. (Some exceptions can be made if no Little Dribblers program exists at your school.)
How to Join:
Register in the fall when registration opens, usually around September or October each school year.

The CH Middle School Soccer Club is all about player development and building a strong foundation for our high school soccer program. As a non-UIL sport, we are able to welcome students in grades 6–8, offering them early exposure to organized soccer. This unique opportunity gives younger students a head start in athletic skill and confidence. Our goal is to grow well-rounded athletes who are ready to compete at the high school level—just like our high school teams, both of which made the playoffs in their first season.

Students in grades 6–8.
Requirements to Join:
No experience necessary!
Must meet UIL academic and behavioral standards.
A $70 fee is required to help cover referee fees.
How to Join:
Complete the registration form and submit the $70 fee.
